Is Christmas too commercialized?

Has Christmas become too commercialized? Some would say yes, that the whole purpose of Christmas is for companies to finally make a profit.

Black Friday signals the beginning of the Christmas season and the time of the year when companies finally get their bottom line out of red ink and into the black. What would they do without Christmas?

Stores used to open early on Black Friday, now they open at midnight or stay open all night; and now cyber Monday is added to the list.

Competition for the almighty dollar seems to be the driving force behind the Christmas season these days. It is like a frenzy when the doors open, people running after products like they will never have the opportunity to buy it again. People going so far as to use pepper spray to chase other shoppers away. Where will it end?

Don’t be part of the mob mentality, resist the temptation to ‘run with bulls’ and get trampled.

Christmas is about the personal experiences that we have with our families and friends, you can’t buy that at the super store. It is something that is cultivated all year long, not just ‘in the moment’. They could care less if you waited 3 days in line, just to get the ‘best deal in town’ , family and friends look to each other in good times and bad, not just during the rush of Christmas shopping.

Keep you shopping experience simple, and don’t forget to give the gift of Love.
